Pets Need Dental Care, Too!
According to the AVMA, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some degree of periodontal disease by three years of age! Without routine dental care, oral bacteria and plaque can develop into severe periodontal disease, causing pain, inflammation, infection, tooth decay, bone loss, and more. Oral bacteria can also enter the bloodstream, causing damage to your pet’s heart, kidneys, or liver.
Many pets tend to hide oral pain or discomfort, and often they will continue to have an appetite despite dental problems. Oral discomfort is sometimes mistaken for ‘grumpiness’, especially in older pets. Many owners report that after dental cleaning and treatment, their pet seems much happier and their pain relief is very noticeable!
Providing your pet with professional dental cleanings, evaluation and x-rays every year will keep your pet healthy and comfortable, help prevent periodontal disease, and identify problems in the mouth early on. Brushing teeth between cleanings makes a huge difference as well. Dental care products like water additives, dental treats, etc. are also available to prevent plaque and tartar buildup between cleanings.

During the procedure, we use ultrasonic scaling to clean each tooth above and below the gum line. We then polish the teeth to create a smooth tooth surface that is more resistant to plaque buildup. Teeth are thoroughly examined and charted to document any abnormalities. Full mouth x-rays are performed with each cleaning to identify any abnormalities or signs of disease not visible above the gum line.
If any problems or abnormalities are discovered during to the procedure that need to be addressed, we will contact you immediately to discuss treatment options.
