Mama love! *Update – Mama has found a loving home

Thursday, April 28th, 2011
Mama was found along with her 8 puppies.  We’ve found homes for them, now she needs some love!  She isn’t too fond of other dogs, but she loves cats.  Help us find her a forever home!
All of our dogs come spayed/neutered, vaccinated (distemper/parvo, rabies, bordetella), heartworm and fecal tested, treated if heartworm positive, dewormed, treated for any other medical ailments, and kept on heartworm/flea preventative.

Would you like a UGA grad of your very own? *Update – George has been adopted!

Thursday, April 28th, 2011
George was found by a good samaritan near an elementary school in Athens on Christmas Day of last year.  His left hind leg was broken when he was found.  George was taken to UGA where they began treatment.  UGA called around to different shelters and animal control, but was unable to locate an owner.  George was later transferred to Briarcliff and admitted to BAF.  Doctor Roper then repaired the fracture with pins and George has been doing well ever since.  Let’s find him a loving owner!

Is Taylor the dog for you? *Update – Taylor has been adopted!

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011
This is our new girl Taylor.  She came in with a large open wound on her left shoulder.  We’re not sure if she was hit by a car, or if it was from a dog fight.  We have closed the wound and spayed her.  She is very affectionate and sweet, but isn’t very fond of other dogs.  Taylor is about 6 months old.

Chows that need our help! *Update – they have all been fostered!

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

We have four chows currently being cared for by Briarcliff Animal Foundation.  They were abandoned by the owner of a puppy mill on the side of the road last month.  They are heartworm negative, and they are girls.  We are looking for anyone who can help foster them, as they need socialization before they can be permanently placed.

The man who abandoned them also abandoned 27 others on the side of the road, and was caught by authorities.  They raided his mill, and he was found to have 89 others, being held in deplorable conditions.  Several rescue organizations are working hard to care for them, and we are doing our part.

If you have the capacity to foster even one, please let us know.  Experience with chows is helpful.  Please give us a call today if you can help, and spread the word!

It’s great to know that there are still happy stories coming out, so long after the devastation.
