Our Successes

Here are some of our adoption success stories!
Milton with his new family with his new family!

Hi Lindsay. I’ve been meaning to forward these photos. Milton was “professionally” groomed today and looks as handsome as can be. Smells like a baby. He is the best behaved dog we’ve ever owned (and he’s number 5!) and he and Sophie are developing a special bond. Richard will be over here tomorrow for our first training session.

Thanks for all you did for our boy. Good luck with all the others waiting for homes.

Mor in his new home Pangur 3

Dear All,

As of yesterday evening I have a new little boy cat named Pangur Ban (you can google the name and read the poem if you aren’t familiar with it). He has spent his entire life in a cage until last night, so he is very frightened by the big open space of the house. He spent all last night behind the washer/dryer. But today he is making progress. We are starting him out today just in the bathroom (no major equipment to hide behind and a relatively small space). He is not so afraid of us—just of the openness. He was less than 2 weeks old when he was taken to the adoption center. We think he’ll develop more confidence in time.

You can just call him Pangur. He’s a sweetie!

Love, Katherine

Manny in his new yard

Dear Lindsay:

Hope you are doing fine. Just wanted to give you an update. Manny/Rudy is settling in to his hew home. Last night was very interesting. He jumped on my bed and laid across the pillows and gave me many kisses. Then he rolled over on his back and cuddled really close to me. At some point he got up and found a stuffed dog toy that looks like a bugle but makes a sound that is like what they play at the Kentucky Derby. He probably made it play that melody a hundred times. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. After a while we all got up and they went outside and did everything. He doesn’t like to be left but hopefully he will get used to Magnolia and Remo’s routine and realize that I come back each time. I feel so bad to hear him cry when I leave, but I have to leave to go to work, so hopefully he will become more comfortable with my leaving for longer periods. He is a beautiful and very sweet boy and he has been very good. Magnolia and Remo are getting more used to him and they actually slept near each other last night. I am running out of room in the bed. Thank you again for all your help. Best regards from Manny/Rudy.

Take care and see you soon.

(picture to come)

Good morning. Fiona is doing splendid we have visited a dog park and have taken her out frequently to become comfortable with the outside world. She has started speaking more and she is very responsive to my commands. Richard did call and I happily accepted his invitation for a free consultation. Fiona is the best decision that I have made all year and in this short time has brought me so much joy. I will continue to keep you posted and we will even try and stop by to say hello. Please thank the staff there for all the love and attention they provided her, it really shows. Thanks.

She is just bubbling over with personality and all the people who meet her are charmed by her attention and playfulness. We are so glad that Stella came into and has enriched our lives. We look forward to years of playing, walking and cuddling Miss Stella Blue! Thanks so much for rescuing her so that she could become a part of our home!

jackson-2 jackson-1

Hi Lindsay–

Jackson has been with us for about 9 months now and he’s really become a big part of the family.

Here are two pictures, one with his favorite toy, the rubber chicken which has since been loved to pieces, literally. The other is of a trip to Lake Hartwell where Jack found his inner lab (after some coaxing) and figured out that swimming after sticks in the water is fun. Now we can’t keep him out of the water (or mud). Our other dog Tater is much older (12!) and has benefited by having such a young energetic guy on the scene. We’ve all been backpacking twice and camping multiple times in the past months. Jackson is a great trail dog and loves tromping through the woods, though he’s a bit of a tent hog. If we aren’t careful he will stretch out completely stealing our ground pads and forcing the rest to have to scrunch up in the corner! He is as enthusiastic and loving as ever, the best cuddler around, so much fun.

I can’t thank you enough for all of the time and energy the Foundation gave him until we were able to find him. And thanks to Richard for giving our guy some training. He’s since learned lots of new tricks but still hates “Drop!” preferring to hog a tennis ball until it becomes a slobbery mess.

Best,

Katy, Jason, Tater, Jackson, and Tot (the cat… who still picks on poor Jack but mostly tolerates him. I think it’s love.)

Andy

Two words, spoiled rotten! When we got Tucker he was 10 lbs. Now
two months later 22.3 lbs! He is the sweetest puppy and smart too. He is already house trained and during the day I can now leave him out of his crate and not come home to a mess! He know lots of tricks and is eager to please. I’ve taught him to ring jingle bells at the door to let me know he need to go out. He is very loving and friendly to everyone but I can already tell that he will be very protective. My husband and I are totally in love with this sweet baby! Thank you so much!

Sorry it took so long, break was very hectic for me. Mercer is doing fine (although weve been calling him Ratchet now). He eats a lot and is very friendly playful. Overall a healthy cat who seems to be enjoying his new home. :) Oh yeah, I only have one picture but here it is.

Agatha Agatha and Cody

Agatha is doing great! We adopted her over 3 years ago, and she has just fit right in ever since. She now has a new little brother (who is 80 lbs.), but they play like little kids! She loves to run around in her fenced in back yard. She also loves to play with all of the grandchildren that come to my house.

Apollo

My name is Apollo. I lived at Briarcliff Animal clinic for the first 6 months of my life before I was adopted. The staff appropriately named me Apollo which among other things means “handsome”. I was very well taken care of and was known as their “favorite”. However my human parents could not help but fall in love with me too. I went home with them and immediately took over. I did not need any adjustment as I did and still do whatever I want to. I am very sociable and get to interact with everyone that comes to their home. Everyone tells me how handsome and sweet I am. My favorite toy is mice. I have a zillion different mice as unfortunately many get lost. I carry them around everywhere upstairs and downstairs. I have not met a stuffed mouse that I did not want to “bat around”. I am also a talker. I can communicate with my human parents and most of the time get what I want. Life is good!!!

Zoe Zoe 2 Zoe 3

Lindsay, I never thought I would love a cat so much, she is so funny she is human, Here are some great pictures hard to choose which is the best. And of course her with the broken leg and Cole comforting her.

My daughter had been BEGGING for a cat for 2 years and I knew we were renovating the house and said it will have to wait. I brought a friends dog and cats to Briarcliff animal hospital and noticed a cat that was being carried around and seemed to know all the dogs. I asked d if she was the cat mascot for the clinic and they said sort-a. Juniper had been in the clinic 3 months; all her brothers and sisters were adopted except her. She was by far the mellowest cat I had ever seen.

I mentioned I would like to adopt her. They said she had some breathing problems and would let me know. Well 2 weeks went by and I thought maybe she is to sick to be adopted. I got a phone call to come pick her up and was shocked. I ran out and bought everything and then surprised my 8 year old and brought her over that we were visiting the neighbors animals they were lonely. My daughter went to sleep away camp the following week and did not want to leave Zoe I promised I would take care of her. During that week she broke her leg and she has been a wonderful terror since. We feel so lucky and blessed to have her; she lets me know when she is hungry, stuck in a closet or wants out. She was an inside cat but she decided that it was easy to sneak out under the dog and go out with him. She knows her name and answers when I call and has bee such a pleasure. I have not had a cat for 30 years and can not imagine what my house would be like without Zoe.

I have included pictures to show you what a great cat she is and how she takes not favorites between the kids.

Please if you want an animal go to Briarcliff they’re so loved form day one that it just extends into your home.

Always from the heart,

Dr. Linda H.Katz

Louie Louie 2 Louie 3

Thank you Briarcliff!

My name is Louie and you helped give me a good life :) Momma kept my name that you gave me because it goes well with my 2 older brothers’ names, Clayton & Simon. Momma fell in love with me when she brought my brothers to the VET for a check up. Thank goodness I am adorable and have a loud purr, because she didn’t want 3 cats. Life is great and I am super happy! My hobbies are watching the paper towels and toilet paper get in fights, learning how to talk, napping even in the car, snuggling with my older brothers (the largest one shown in picture), and chasing them around the apartment so that they stay fit. I look a lot like one of my brothers, Clayton (shown in bed pic) , and am growing big & strong just like him…..so big that momma and poppa even had to buy a bigger bed! Again thank you for saving me and making me feel whole again…well almost…have you seen my tail?

Briarcliff we truly thank you for all that you do!!!!!!

Much Love :)

TabbyTabby 2

As promised here are a couple of pictures of Tabby in his new home. These pictures make it look like he sleeps all day, but that is not the case. He and his new buddy William (also adopted from Briarcliff) are become friends and doing a lot of running around the house exploring and playing.

You should have seen Tabby when he found the basket of cat toys in the living room. He pounced on the basket and started going through all the toys. He reminded me of a five year old on Christmas morning.

William is also happy to have a buddy to hang out with. They spend a lot of time together sitting in different windows around the house checking out the comings and goings of the neighborhood.
I wish people who are worried about bringing an older cat into their home could see how well Tabby is doing after just one week. And how playful a cat can still be at that age.

Hi! We’ve renamed Pineapple. Her new name is Muki and she is THE BEST KITTY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We LOVE her! Even my husband, who was a little hesitant about having a cat in the house melts around her! He’s always commenting on cute things she does. He’s smitten with her which of course makes me very happy.

Muki is very affectionate. She’s spent the entire morning in my sweet mother-in-law’s lap. She always uses her litter box and loves to play. We’ve bought several little toys for her. Her 2 favorite are chasing the laser beam light and swatting at the little fish on a bouncy string. She always follows us around. She prefers to be in the room with someone most of the time. She seems to have adjusted to the transition from the animal hospital quite well. She was a bit scared in the car on the ride to my house, but after checking every inch of the house out she curled up in my arms and purred away.

I’ll send pictures soon. Sure, I’d be happy to be on your website. I’ll be in contact soon.

Justin Justin 2 Justin 3

Lindsay:

Here are a couple of pictures of Cooper (formerly Justin) and a little about him.

Cooper is a great dog! He was about 9 months old when we got him from Briarcliff. He is now an estimated 1.5 years old. It took about 6 weeks till he was fully trained and his personality really came out. He is so smart. Loves his many toys, all of which he knows by name. He loves to be where ever you are. Prefers a lap to the floor, and loves to snuggle and sleep in on a cloudy day. We take him to doggy daycare when we have to travel during the week, and he loves it. He is always so excited if you say the words “doggy daycare.” He has many doggy friends there, and plays all day long. When he comes home he is wiped out from such an active day. Sometimes he goes just for a play day. Cooper also likes to go to the dog park. At only 25 pounds, and on the larger side of being a small dog, he is not afraid of the big dogs, and loves to occasionally lead them around. Cooper is part of our family and has really turned out to be a smart, happy and fun dog to have.

After a weekend of lots of attention, I see that she now owns the household. She loves to tald…especially at meal time. She loves all of the toys. Ms. Lizzy has retreated to the master bedroom. They are coming closer together. Lizzie comes charging out of the bedroom to see what she is doing;she then hisses and runs back. I could not find Missy yesterday for a while;she was under one end of the persian rug. She wants to try to go outside!! She loves the big window to watch the people and pets.

Tallulah 1 Tallulah 2 Tallulah 3

Zoey, formerly Tallulah, is the love of my life! She’s the only cat growing up in a family of dogs (a papillion, Shepard mix & boxer) who has no idea that she’s a cat. Zoey is a lover, player and sassy… just like her mommy. I knew from the moment I saw her that she was something special. She loves to snuggle under the covers, sing in the shower (literally), and wrestle with the dogs of the house. Her curiousity for the outside is insatiable but as an indoor kitty she’ll have to get over that. She’s doing great and I can only thank Briarcliff Animal Foundation for saving her so that I could have her in my life.
xoxo

Hello everyone,

As you can see from the photos, Kitty has become very good friends with YoYo, our poodle. She also enjoyed Christmas and had her very own tree. All in all, we couldn’t be happier that she has come to live at our house. Thank you and keep up the good work at BAF!

Here are a couple of photos of Piper. She is growing so quickly and it’s only been a week. She is doing great with potty training and has been such a joy and a great addition to our family. As you can see her big brother Gunner loves her too.

Dandy Dandy 2 Dandy 3 Dandy 4

Hello Lindsay,
Jack is having a blast and adapting very well to his new family. Jack is getting plenty of love from my daughters, Jade and Brianna. He is also enjoying giving his new big brother, Sam, a hard time. Sam is being as patient as possible as Jack pulls on Sam’s tail, takes over Sam’s dog bed, and adds his new scent to Sam’s backyard. After 5 days, Sam finally showed the first signs of wanting to play with Jack.
My family and I extend our thanks to all of the Briarcliff Animal Clinic staff and doctors for providing care and a much-needed refuge for stray dogs and cats! We will see you soon at Jack’s next puppy visit.

We are loving her so much, she gets along with all of us and is so much fun. I never imagined having such a big lap dog but that is what she thinks she is. It’s ok though. She loves running in her new back yard with the kids and loves playing fetch, even though she doesn’t give the ball back (we are working on that). I am so glad that I found her I don’t think there could have been a better dog to join our family other than Sookie. Thanks so much for everything you guys do at Briarcliff and finding new homes for all the animals there.

Lindsay,
We changed her name to Tulah but she has been far better than we could have imagined! She is doing extremely well on house training and is getting better every day. She has already learned to “sit” for a treat after success at training. She has become more and more at home and loves the fenced yard. She went to the vet today in Forsyth and her incision is healing well. He confirmed Dr. Lane’s suspicion that she may have mange but we are starting treatment for that. She is very playful and was great with our daughter’s dog Lagassee when she came to visit. Thank you so much for your organization and the work you do! We would be glad to be on your page as we definitely consider our adoption of Tulah to be a success.

shannon-1 shannon-2 shannon-3 shannon-4
Shannon is my first dog ever! I knew I wanted to have a dog and I knew that I wanted to adopt a dog so one day out of the blue, I called Briarcliff Animal Foundation and asked if they had any dogs available for adoption. There were two. Shannon was the first dog that I saw and she was very timid. I knew that Shan had had a rough “puppy-hood” and would need a little extra TLC :-) Immediately after deciding on Shannon (which took about two seconds), Shannon stood behind me, which I was told meant that she trusted me. I took Shan home that night and she has been by my side ever since.
Despite her rough upbringing, Shannon is an amazing, loving dog. Shan and I go on runs most mornings and she is very good at meeting and playing well with other dogs. She is a great listener and is very obedient.
I am very grateful to Briarcliff Animal Foundation because they rescued her, nursed her back to health, showed her that she could trust humans again and then found a good loving home for her. Shannon wears a pink “LIfe is Good” collar which I find very appropriate to her situation :-)
Thank you Briarcliff for introducing me to my very best dog friend :-)

Hi Lindsay,
Sorry I took a while to get back with you. We went on vacation and I also wanted some good photos to attach. Well as you can imagine, we are just loving Rudy. He is so sweet and so smart and has just fit in so well with the whole family. He is enjoying the kids and his four legged brother and sister (Stanley – 16yr old Dachshund and Lucy – 13yr old terrier/poodle mutt). Lucy and Rudy play all day long until he collapses with exhaustion and lays on his favorite spot, the fireplace hearth. I am sure because it is nice and cool this time of year. Having Rudy join the family has given 13yr old Lucy a new lease on playing. She has not had much play time since her brother, Stanley, is a 16yr old miniature dachshund. Lucy is in heaven having another dog to run around and play with. The kids just love Rudy and he is enjoying them as well. We have always been a multi-dog family and Rudy is a perfect addition. He is doing wonderful in Richard’s Puppy Kindergarten, the smartest one in the group if I don’t say so myself; just a little bias…HA HA
We love Rudy and thank Briarcliff so much for helping us find the perfect addition to the family.
Take care,
The Boardman’s

Funion Skyy Funion Grizzley Bear Skyy and Funion 4 Skyy and Funion 2

Funion was adopted from BAF in June of 2009. He is definitely a character! He came into our home of 2 other cats and 2 dogs (all rescues), and is doing wonderful! He is also doing great with our 18 month old daughter. He will start going outside soon, when he is fully comfortable with our home. He seems a little bit scared of going outside, but his new brother and sister will teach him well I’m sure. He is such a lover! And he loves our dog, Skyy. They cuddle and take naps together (as the pictures show). It’s hilarious! Thank you guys so much!

New Calla 2 New Calla 3 New Calla
Hi Lindsay!
I wanted to send you a few pics of Jasper (formerly Calla).
Jasper is absolutely awesome!!!! He is the most lovable face licking, lap dog ever. He also has boundless energy and gets to go to the dog park at Swift Cantrell park in Kennesaw every night. He has so many dog friends that are there every night and makes new friends every night as well. Jasper went to puppy class and is continuing to learn all the time. Everyone at the park loves to throw the ball with him and he brings it right back and sits and waits for them to throw it again!! He also likes to get in the small tub that the park provides for water, somehow he folds his whole body into it. I can’t count how many people have taken his picture while he is “bathing”. We took him and our Shih Tzu Willie to Lake Allatoona yesterday for his first swim and he dove right in like he had always been swimming.
Thanks again-he is a great addition to our family.

One Response to “Our Successes”

  1. Rudy says:

    Dear Lindsay:

Life in Douglasville has been very nice. I love my new family and am so happy to have two new playmates. Remo and Magnolia have been sharing their toys with me and I got to meet our Grandma’s Schnoodle, Happy, yesterday. My new Mom even took me to see Santa on Saturday and he said I had the biggest paws of any cocker spaniel he had ever seen. I don’t think the beard was real but the children nearby sure did.

Thank you all for making it possible for me to have a new home, for all your love and kindness. Will see you soon.

    Love,
    Rudy (Formerly Manny)
