Kitten Found in Car Engine Near Edgewood Retail District

Tuesday, May 28th, 2013

This little kitten was brought to our clinic on Memorial Day wearing a blue collar and bell.

Midnight composite

A couple heard a strange yelp coming from their car’s engine WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING! After alot of coaxing, a little burned and bruised kitten crawled out. Because they have no idea when or where the little guy decided to hitch a ride, we have no clue where to start looking for his family. He was found wearing the blue collar and bell pictured below. He is well fed and incredibly sweet. Please spread the word and keep your eyes open for information about this kitten’s family.

If you have any information that could help us reunite this little kitten with its family: please call (404)-874-6393 or email us at briarclifpetfinder@yahoo.com.

A Proud New Mother at Briarcliff!

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013

Abby is a rescue who was found shortly after giving birth to 5 beautiful and healthy kittens! Like our puppies, these little guys are far to young to be adopted out just yet, but very soon they’ll be looking for new families… If you are looking to adopt a kitten that has literally been handled from birth, making it extremely social and people-loving, and you have a couple of weeks to wait before bringing them home, these might be the kittens for you.

Emma Grace’s New Home

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

The Briarcliff Animal Foundation recently received this letter from Emma Grace’s new family. I’ve copied the text below.

Dear Dr. Muller,

I am the cousin of Lee Odelia Smith who left me her cat Emma Grace. You were kind enough to have her picked-up and boarded until I returned from out of town.

I wanted to thank you for all the attention you and your father paid to Lee of the years. I understand that Emma Grace was an injured rescue cat that Lee adopted through you. She is an absolute delight. Our other two cats are slowly adjusting to her. Though not yet the best of buddies, they all three climb in and out of our bed all during the night.

Please rest assured that Emma Grace (aka Goldilocks) has found a permanent and loving home.

Peanut’s Story (Q&A)

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

Peanut is continuing to recover in foster care, but we recently received several questions regarding Peanut’s recovery that weren’t covered in the previous posts. I thought we could take a moment to answer them here:

Q: Which Briarcliff Doctor performed Peanut’s surgery?

A: At Briarcliff, we benefit from having 13 doctors on staff, each with their own medical specialties and passions. Peanut has been seen by Dr. Busch, Dr. Odle, Dr. Bannister and Dr. Muller. The actually surgery was performed by Dr. Bannister, with Dr. Muller attending.

Q: What did Peanut eat with his jaw wired?

A: Peanut has been eating baby food and wet cat food mixed with water since his surgery.

Q: How did Peanut get his name?

A: Peanuts foster parents originally wanted to call him Pinot (as in the wine) because his grey and white coloring made him look sophisticated, but they soon realized the cat’s personality was much more “Peanut-like” (their words). They started calling him Peanut, and never looked back.

Q: Who do I contact about adopting Peanut?

A: If you’re interested in rescuing Peanut, you can contact Catherine Muller with the Briarcliff Animal Clinic by sending an email to briarcliffpetfinder@yahoo.com.

Spotlight: Rico Suave *Update*

Tuesday, December 11th, 2012

Rico Suave has been adopted!!!! Congratulations Rico! We’re so glad you now have a loving family to go home with.

rico adult1

Ricardo (aka. Rico Suave) has been without a family for far too long! This

little guy has seen other kittens come and go, but still he has no home.

Frankly, we here at Briarcliff are surprised Rico hasn’t been snatched up by a loving parents already. With a calm, laid-back personality and an intense love for people, Rico Suave would make a great addition to ANY family. He’d do well in
a single-pet home

OR a home with other cats, dogs or children. Ricardo would even be perfect for older owners who want a low maintenance pet who enjoys cuddling into a lap for naps. Rico will bring an incredible amount of joy, laughter and love into any home.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Rico, please email briarcliffpetfinder@yahoo.com.

Trix’s Story *UPDATE*

Friday, December 7th, 2012

TRIX HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!! We couldn’t be happier that this little kitten is getting a family and home at last!

Meet our friend Trix

Trix 1

Trix

Unfortunately, Trix was not in the best shape when he came to Briarcliff Animal Clinic. You can see from his x-ray below that Trix suffered from a broken leg.  After surgery, however, Trix has healed remarkably well!  We’re all very pleased to inform our readers that Trix runs, jumps and plays with the other adoptable kittens as if his leg was never broken at all.

But Trix’s story isn’t over yet. He still needs a loving family to find him and bring him home. He is an extremely affectionate kitten who loves to be surrounded by people. A social little cat, Trix will play with just about everyone, whether they be human or animal. He would do very well in any home, big or small.

Those interested in rescuing Trix should be aware of his past injury and treat him with the love and tenderness he deserves.

GEORGIA GIVES DAY!!! DEC. 6th!!

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

Briarcliff Animal Foundation is participating in GA Gives Day on December 6th!!! Sponsored by the Georgia Center for non-profits, this is a day when thousands of people from across Georgia will log onto their computers and give to the charities that have made a difference in their lives.

Our Foundation has been helping Atlanta’s strays receive much needed medical care, helping to get them healthy again so that they will have a better chance at adoption. We help animals like Kali, who came to us a homeless puppy with a highly treatable form of cancer.  With your donations, the BAF was able to provide Kali with chemotherapy, and after only a few treatments, she was cancer free! She’s currently healthy and awaiting adoption with the Atlanta Humane Society.

If your interested in learning more about GA Gives Day and helping us continue our mission of caring for Atlanta’s strays, visit https://www.gagivesday.org/c/GGD/a/briarcliffanimal-foundation.

And remember, you don’t have to wait until the 6th to start giving. Donate today!

Peanut’s Story, Part 2

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012
X-Ray of Peanut's Jaw

X-Ray of Peanut's Jaw

For those of you following Peanut’s story, above is a radiograph of Peanut’s Jaw before the surgery. It’s extremely hard to see from an image like this but the bone directly under Peanut’s chin has separated. Basically, his jaw has been split in half, right down the middle!!! At Briarcliff, we see these types of injuries alot when a cat takes a nasty fall from a considerable height. But Peanut could also have been hit by a car, based on a few bruises to his side.

Peanut underwent surgery shortly after “Peanut’s Story, Part 1″ was posted on Monday. He is currently resting with his jaw wired shut, and doing exceptionally well. The whole Briarcliff team has been rooting for Peanut, and we’re extremely relieved that he’s recovering so beautifully.

For now, Peanut will be fostered by the two Emory Law students who found him injured beneath their porch. But Peanut still needs a permanent place to call home where he’ll be loved and cared for. If you’re interested in adopting Peanut into your family, call or visit Briarcliff Animal Clinic. 404- 835-1216.

We’ll give you another Peanut’s Story update soon— hopefully describing Peanut’s happy ending with a new loving family.
