Laser procedures result in less pain, less swelling and less bleeding. Lasers reduce the risk of infection and result in less post-operative discomfort. Click for more info.
Laparoscopy | back to top |
|---|
Laparoscopy is a procedure utilizing a small camera that’s inserted through a tiny incision in the abdomen to help doctors visualize the organs. This procedure is used to perform spays, certain neuters, gastropexies, biopsies and bladder stone removal. The greatest advantage of laparoscopy is that the procedure does not require invasive surgical exploration of the abdomen, resulting in less anesthesia time and quicker recovery. Click for more info.
- SPAYS: Laparoscopy allows for more gentle retraction of the ovaries and has been demonstrated to be 65 percent less painful. This technique also allows for a better evaluation of any internal bleeding.
- NEUTERS: Laparoscopic neuters are performed only on dogs with testicles that have not descended into the scrotum. In this situation, the testicles are in the abdominal cavity, making laparoscopy and ideal method to locate and remove them.
- GASTROPEXIES: Gastropexies are recommended for deep-chested dogs and large-breed dogs. These dogs are predisposed to bloating or twisting their stomachs. A preventative gastropexy can prevent this life-threatening condition. Using a scope allows the procedure to be performed with a small incision. In the past, this procedure required a large incision.
